We adapted the “Trencadís” technique to stained glass by reusing fragments and offcuts of glass and mirrors.
We compare this approach to the composition of jazz. While taking into account different constraints (size, colour and the client’s wishes), we allow our imagination to move freely through shapes. This gives us tremendous creative freedom.
This technique requires a deep understanding of the client’s desires and a great deal of trust, as no preparatory drawings are made. The result is astonishing and magical.
“My man would say, ‘Time does not respect what is done without it’…
This work had been gestating for three years, since the day they attended our wedding and decided to offer us stained-glass windows as a gift. Maybe even longer. Amélie and François-Odon concocted this marvel for us. My first impulse was to touch it, as if to verify the very existence of this beauty. The second my fingers met the material, an explosion of emotions. Each piece has its own soul, its own texture, playing with the light in a unique way. I’d like to tell their stories and history: as always, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This gift moves us profoundly.”
